Utility Operator will be assisting in preparing and expanding Normex blocks to meet specifications, trimming blocks, staging blocks for the saw, and assisting with packing orders for shipment.
Hours: 10:30pm-6:30am Sunday through Thursday. Training is required on 1st shift 4-6 weeks 6:30am-2:30pm Monday through Friday
Key Responsibilities:
- Startup/verify secondary equipment (dust collector) is operating.
- Check schedule to determine next order to process.
- Read work order instructions and process specifications.
- Use overhead crane to load/unload Aramid blocks from saw table.
- Trim sides of blocks using a vertical band saw.
- Change saw blades and guides using small hand tools.
- Measure blocks using tape measure.
- Stage blocks for saw operators.
- Inspect blocks and slices for quality issues.
- Select and trim packaging materials to required size using handheld saw or cutting machine.
- Pack orders in corrugated or wood containers according to customer requirements.
- Print and apply labels to packaging.
- Complete associated paperwork.
- Enter process and work order information into computer system to maintain accurate records.
- Monitor equipment and make setup adjustments as necessary.
- Communicate with management representatives regarding any material or equipment concerns.
- Record production and scrap information on team board charts.
- Assist in performing quarterly inventory checks.
- Assist other departments as necessary.
- Maintain an inventory of supplies. Notify supervisor when re-order level is reached.
- Provide the customer with the best value including Cost, Quality, and Delivery by being efficient, productive, and careful.
- Actively participate in improving our product, processes, equipment, and methods.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times including waste/scrap removal and cleanup of equipment.
- Perform all reasonably related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED Preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Mechanically inclined
- Ability to work overtime.
